LACMA Gala 2023

Co-chaired by Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio, Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s (LACMA) Art + Film Gala united stars such as Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, A$AP Rocky, Billie Eilish, Jessica Chastain, Keanu Reeves, and Pedro Pascal with art luminaries Larry Gagosian and Jeffrey Deitch. LACMA raised over $5 million during the event.

Held on November 4, the 12th LACMA Art+Film Gala celebrated the convergence of art and film. The event drew luminaries from the art, film, music, and fashion industries.

This year’s honorees at the event were artist Judy Baca and filmmaker David Fincher. Renowned for creating the world’s longest mural, Baca is currently featured in a solo exhibition at LACMA. Fincher is celebrated for classics such as “Fight Club,” “Seven,” and “The Social Network,”. The occasion also highlighted Gucci’s debut evening wear line and featured a sumptuous dinner prepared by chef Mattia Agazzi.

At the gala’s power table, notable figures like Squid Games star Lee Jung-jae, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo DiCaprio were in close proximity. Gallerist Kibum Kim of Commonwealth & Council expressed his starstruck moment sitting next to Lee, although that was eclipsed when he found himself sharing the restroom with Brad Pitt.

LACMA’s CEO, Michael Govan, seized the opportunity to address global events, emphasizing the interconnectedness of our world and the importance of love during challenging times. He also shared positive news about the progress of LACMA’s new Peter Zumthor building, stating that it is now 70 percent completed, a substantial advancement from the previous year.

The gala’s after-dinner performer, Lenny Kravitz, left a profound impression on the attendees. His timeless appeal and charisma were undeniable, and as he played his 1998 hit “Fly Away,” the crowd could not resist hitting the dance floor.
